Summer in Roscoff is wonderful, but we have a soft spot for winter. The town slows down, the light becomes incredible and the sea shows all its moods. Here is why we recommend coming out of season.
Beaches all to yourself
From October to March, you can walk for hours on the Grande Grève or the coastal path without meeting anyone. On windy days, the waves crashing on the rocks are a show in themselves. Wrap up warm and enjoy the fresh air.
The spring tides
Around the equinoxes, the big tides uncover huge stretches of sand and islets that are usually under water. A highlight for photographers, walkers and shellfish gatherers, as long as you always keep an eye on the incoming tide.
Thalassotherapy and cosy days
Roscoff is one of the birthplaces of thalassotherapy: nothing beats a seawater treatment after a windy walk. To make it last, our houses with an outdoor hot tub facing the sea, such as Grande Terre, La Désirade or Petite Terre, can be enjoyed all year round. Find them on our page houses with a hot tub in Roscoff.
Oyster and scallop season
Winter is the best season for oysters and scallops in Brittany, and the harbour restaurants serve them at their best. Our favourite tables are in our good addresses.
A quiet weekend or week
Outside the high season, most of our homes can be booked from two nights, perfect for a short break. For Christmas and New Year, book early: these are among the most popular dates of the winter.
