Things to do in Roscoff: our must-sees

Old harbour, exotic garden, Île de Batz, thalassotherapy and pink onions: our favourite spots for a great stay in the old corsair town.

The lighthouse and old harbour of Roscoff

A small town full of character at the tip of northern Finistère, Roscoff is best explored on foot, with the wind in your face. We live here all year round and never tire of it. Here is what we recommend to our guests as soon as they arrive.

Stroll through the historic centre and the old harbour

Roscoff owes its charm to its past as a port of corsairs and shipowners. Their granite houses still line the streets of the centre, around the church of Notre-Dame de Croaz-Batz and its remarkable openwork bell tower.

The old harbour lives by the tides: boats resting on the sand at low water, lively terraces as soon as the sun is out. It is the ideal starting point for a first walk.

Climb to the exotic garden and the Sainte-Barbe chapel

Thanks to the mild climate, thousands of plants from the southern hemisphere thrive in the Jardin exotique et botanique de Roscoff. From the top of its rock, the view over the Bay of Morlaix is worth the visit on its own.

Right next door, the little white chapel of Sainte-Barbe watches over the port. Go up at the end of the day, when the light is at its best.

Take the boat to the Île de Batz

The Île de Batz is about fifteen minutes away by boat. It makes a lovely day out, on foot or by bike, between white sandy beaches, the lighthouse and the Georges Delaselle garden. We can organise your trip and book your bikes.

Taste the Roscoff onion and the local seafood

The pink onion of Roscoff crossed the Channel with the Johnnies, the onion sellers who went to sell it door to door in Great Britain. Their story is told at the Maison des Johnnies et de l'Oignon de Roscoff.

From the sea, shellfish, crab and seaweed are on every menu. Ask us for our favourite tables and we will book for you.

Take care of yourself

Roscoff is one of the birthplaces of thalassotherapy in France. Seawater baths, treatments and wide beaches: everything invites you to slow down. For a massage or a treatment at home, we also have the right people in our address book.
